FOMO

Let’s talk about missing out, or the fear of it at least. In today’s world, FOMO is bigger than ever. Everyone’s lives are broadcast online and you can see it all. That person’s partying or another person is traveling to some exotic place. You want to do those things too. It’s hard when you feel like you are missing out. Missing out on something you should be doing for social validation. I’ve been there too, it’s not easy saying no sometimes. The thought of going out and having a good time is easy when the other option is sit at home and work. And it’s not always bad to do those things. Go have fun. But make sure you earn it.

The constant feeling of missing out almost always leads to failure. Looking for the next thing or the next party the next opportunity. Commit to your path. Understand that not only do you have bigger aspirations than those you see online doing whatever, but you have committed to the path you are on. You have chosen this journey. Go full force into it. Accept it. Don’t search for the new thing. When you constantly chase new opportunities, the great one you have before you is gone and it’s a never ending cycle.

How do I stop falling victim of FOMO? Make a plan and stick to it. Have a clear concise goal you want to achieve every day. Make it hard. Make it where you don’t know if you’ll finish. Work hard. Avoid social media and looking at what everyone else is doing. Remember you’re on a different journey than them. You have bigger dreams and aspirations than they do. Overcome this obnoxious feeling and become unstoppable. You will achieve everything you said you would if you just stick to it. I encourage you to do some reflecting and look for times your journey has been affected by FOMO. Learn from it and don’t let it happen again.

  1. Indeed we’re unique.. it’s good to honour our invididuality instead of always comparing with others, ya?😉
